Johnny Selman, BBCX365 Collection: Belgian Skydiver 'Murdered Love Rival' During Jump, 24 September 2010, 2010. Poster

The poster was created in 2010 by Johnny Selman. Selman is a designer that created/designed a poster a day for 365 days purely based on the headline from BBC News. He wanted to elevate the American public's awareness of global events by creating designs and posters that were from credible sources while also being visually engaging. The idea of this project came as a response from "soft news" and domestic news programs, and these contributed to Americans' lack of knowledge about what was going on daily. This piece was created with the headline on September 24, 2010, "Belgian Skydiver 'Murdered Love Rival' During Jump." Many of his other works also resemble flat style but also a mix of grudge style in some of his other works. https://www.dezeen.com/2010/10/06/bbcx365-by-johnny-selman/

In this piece, it displays a figure falling from possibly the sky with a straight thick yellow streak following as the figure falls. There is no foreground or background, no shadows at all. This gives in to one of the elements of Flat Style being no depth. The figure is just against a white composition with no indication of how far they have fallen or how close they are to the growth or anything. It remains me of a cliffhanger. His use of negative space really helps with the layout of the composition and how it is completely based off of a headline is amazing. The negative space really shows the figure falling against just the sky and it helps the viewer further understand the headline of that day.
